Well, none of the English babel boxes are protected (and the lmo box has never been protected[1]), but I understand that some of the other Wikipedias have different protection policies than we have (the only templates that get fully protected are system-level templates, which babel boxes aren't). I'd suggest turning it down to at least semi-protection; prevents random vandals, but still allows good-faithed editors to make edits (though, really, I think this wiki is low-traffic enough that it doesn't need any protection). Hmm, turns out that en is protected. Perhaps I should pay closer attention to my own language before criticizing another. :)
That said, while the English template itself is protected, the interwikis are stored on en:Template:User en/doc, which is not protected. That seems like an excellent balance, as it protects the template, but wouldn't impede editors adding interwikis. EVula // talk // 15:39, 4 utubər 2007 (UTC)
